From August to December, 2015, high school English teachers, from the region of Alajuela, took the course Integration of Skills with Emphasis in Grammar, whose purpose was to improve the teachers´linguistic competence. Nineteen teachers, from circuito 01, 02, 03, 06, 07 and 09 earned their 100 hour certificate. Participantes were given the textbook Grammar Sense 3 A, Second Edition and the certificates were delivered this year.

In May, three hundred English teachers from the region of Alajuela received their result of the TOEIC exam they took last year. Most teachers came to the DREA building to pick up their result. Teachers from far areas went to the supervision offices of Grecia, Atenas and Orotina to pick up their result.
The rest of the English teachers from Alajuela did not take the test because the one they had taken before was still valid last year.
On June 21st it was carried out a workshop for night school English teachers. The purpose was to share strategies and useful resources in order to support teacher´s work. Eleventh grade teachers were the ones attending since the advisory´s goal is to help them to better prepare their students for the national test.
Bajo el lema: “Inglés es importante”, se realizó la Final Nacional del Primer Festival de Inglés, en la Universidad EARTH, en Guácimo. Los niños, niñas y jóvenes mostraron su dominio de lengua extranjera y pusieron a prueba su conocimiento al deletrear y pronunciar discursos improvisados. Misha Penn Bermúdez, de la Dirección Regional de Puriscal, es la estudiante ganadora del certamen Spelling Be o deletreo, en la categoría primaria y; Diego Arnáez Matamoros, de la Dirección Regional, San José Norte, ganó en la categoría secundaria.
